Celebrating the U.S. Military with The Leader’s Code

This month, we pay special attention to our Armed Forces. Last Saturday (the third Saturday in May), we celebrate Armed Forces Day to honor Americans in uniform who served their country in times of war and peace. And Monday is our Memorial Day, when we remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We honor those who serve the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. Today, we have 1.4 million active men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces and another 1.1 million in the Reserves. We salute you!

I recently read Donovan Campbell’s The Leader’s Code. Campbell graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Business School, finished first in his class at the Marines’ basic officer course, and served three combat deployments. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and a Bronze Star with Valor for his time in Iraq and Afghanistan. What better way to celebrate the Leadership of our Armed Forces than to glean lessons from The Leader’s Code?
