On January 25, 1997, Jennifer Leigh Smith and I said, “I do,” and over the last 20 years, I have found Ephesians 4:2-3 to be a truth for us. Paul says, “Be completely humble and gentle; Be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.”
Our current life stage is marked with new challenges. Today, Jennifer and Katy (now a junior) are on a college visit to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas while I stayed home with both boys, who are sick. Cody starts High School next year—yikes! In about 18 months, Katy will be getting ready to start college, and Cody will be starting to drive. Tanner, our youngest, will be starting Middle School. How will we handle all of that? The same way we’ve handled challenges over the first 20 years…a heavy dose of prayer and reliance upon God.
