My Proverbs study this October focuses on good words and proper speech, so it’s a good time to focus on how Chick-Fil-A uses positive words to create a compelling culture.
Why Chick-Fil-A? As you can see above, my son Cody was fortunate to be employed by them for his first paid summer job. He learned a lot about customer service and Chick-Fil-A’s compelling culture.
Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick-Fil-A explained, “Over our 68-year history, we have strived for it to be said of Chick-Fil-A that our talent is the best in the industry, and that our small-company, family culture is amazing to observe.” Dan Cathy’s father, Truett (who founded the company), made it clear that the work was all about putting people first.
Fortunately, Dee Ann Turner (Vice President for Corporate Talent) codified what she spent the better part of three decades doing—ensuring that Chick-Fil-A adheres to the principles for not only selecting great talent, but training and retaining talented people throughout their careers.
