According to the National Days Calendar, February 1st is National Texas Day, but it’s not clear why. Texas Independence Day is March 2, San Jacinto Day is April 21 and Texas was granted U.S. statehood on Dec. 29, 1845.
Could it be because on February 1, 1861, a group of Texas delegates voted to secede from the Union? However, it wasn’t ratified by voters until February 23 and secession wasn’t made official until another convention in March.
Anyway, what better way to celebrate the day than to explore what a Texas entrepreneur learned from the Father of Modern Management?
