Sunday is National Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is celebrated by individuals, groups and organizations, nationwide, to encourage acts of kindness. It is a favorite day to many, as people everywhere enjoy giving and receiving acts of kindness.
To celebrate the day, I recently read The Hidden Power of Kindness: A Practical Handbook for Souls Who Dare to Transform the World, One Deed at a Time. The book was written by Father Lawrence G. Lovasik in 1999, who adapted his father’s originally-published book Kindness from 1962.
On March 25, 1961 at Divine Word Seminary Girard, Pennsylvania, Father Lawrence Lovasik said, “The world needs kindness. By being kind, we have the power of making the world a happier place in which to live, or at least we greatly diminish the amount of unhappiness in it so as to make it a quite different world.”
He went on to explain, “I am in earnest about using the time allotted to me by God on this earth to the best advantage in carrying out the ideal of my life — to make God more known and loved through my writings.”
