Happy National Book Lovers Day!

August 9th is celebrated as National Book Lovers Day—a day for all those who love to read.  If you follow this site, you know that I love books.  Without a doubt, my favorite book is the all-time bestseller with more than 5 Billion copies sold to date—the Bible.

With that said, let’s take a closer look today at Brent Garrison’s 2016 book entitled, Leadership by The Book: Lessons from Every Book of the Bible.

In this book, Garrison seeks to challenge leaders – all leaders – to consider a leadership style that embraces the rich outcomes of character-led leadership.

Most books about leadership are written from our perspective, as the created. Garrison wanted to write a book about leadership, which gave the prominent role to the Creator and His thoughts about leadership.

Model Man: From Integrity to Legacy

July 30th is celebrated as National Father-in-Law Day.  This day is thought to have its beginnings around 1840 when European monarchs, Christian IX of Denmark and Nicholas I of Montenegro, became known as the “Fathers-in-Law of Europe” because all of their children married foreign princes and princesses.

I’ve blogged about my Father-in-Law a few times—last October entitled: Dr. Wayne Cason Smith: He Taught Us How to Live, Love, and Leave  and more recently in my Thankful for a Revolutionary Parent post.

As I consider becoming a Father-in-Law myself one day (surely, at least one of my kids will get married!), I turn to Larry Stockstill’s book Model Man: From Integrity to Legacy.

I picked up this book and read in in the Summer of 2019 on our family vacation to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
