Mikaela Pyle: A Hard-Working, Achieving Next Generation Leader

Mikaela - Baylor

Last November, I wondered, “Who are our future leaders…who will keep this country great?” I even referred to the May 2013 Time Magazine Cover entitled “The Me Me Me Generation”, describing the kids of today as “lazy” (Click here for that post).

This past weekend, I was honored to celebrate my niece’s graduation. And if she has anything to do with it, the future of this country is bright! Mikaela Pyle was Valedictorian of Denton (Texas) Guyer’s High School, and she’s earned a flute scholarship to Baylor University.

Today’s post is dedicated to her perspective. Click here to continue

Time Management Lessons from Moses, David, Paul, and Peter Drucker

Weeks 20 of the NIV Leadership Bible focuses on the leadership skill of time management.  The focal passage is the Prayer of Moses in Psalm 90.  Moses lived with his entire generation wandering aimlessly in the wilderness.  For 40 years, the Israelites roamed with no specific destination in sight.  In verse 12 (above), Moses essentially says, “Unless we are gripped by life’s brevity and place proper value on the time we have, no matter how long or short it is, we will never gain a wise heart.”

Effective time management isn’t just about learning techniques and a “Franklin Planner.”  While a time management planning system will help us do a better job of scheduling time, that doesn’t mean we are doing a better job of spending our time.  Knowing the difference is the definition of wisdom.

Let’s see what else this week’s devotions said about time management.
