Giving Thanks for My Faith, Family, and Fun in 2013!

A few years ago, we created a Family Mission Statement to help guide our priorities and focus our time and energies.  At this time of year, this Mission Statement provides a way to measure our success, so I pause to give thanks.  As Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Lessons from My Big Brother: How I Learned the 4 Keys of Followership

Today is my big brother’s birthday.  Happy Birthday, Blake!  (This photo was taken at my wedding in 1997—my best man & me.)

Reflecting on our lives growing up, I realized that I learned some leadership lessons early in life from my big brother.  As I’ve mentioned before, we in the Human Resources field like to point out that “past performance is the best predictor of future performance.”  Applying that principle to leadership, I think it’s fair to say that “followership is the best predictor for leadership.”
