Happy National Learning & Development Month

National Learning and Development Month is celebrated every October and encourages individuals to focus on broadening and advancing their personal and professional skills.  The National month recognition reminds us of the importance of supporting educating and learning at every stage of life—it’s not just for kids!  Education and learning are critical to human progress.

Take the initiative, and never stop learning.  It is important to continue to build skills that make us better team members and citizens.

In honor of the month, let’s turn to Ed Lawler’s 2017 book Reinventing Talent Management: Principles and Practices for the New World of Work.

The Spiritual Life of a Leader

This month’s hero, Abel, left a legacy of faith; and Hebrews 11:4 tells us, “God counted Abel as righteous because of his faith.”

In his short life, Abel demonstrated a God-centered life.

Boyd Bailey’s 2021 book emphasizes The Spiritual Life of a Leader: A God-Centered Leadership Style.  Bailey is founder of Wisdom Hunters, a ministry whose daily devotional emails help more than 100,000 readers connect with Christ. He also wrote Learning to Lead Like Jesus, which I summarized in 2020.

Larry Green first met Boyd Bailey about 15 years ago and said, “I immediately realized I was in the presence of a man who was living out the same passion for God that was awakening within me. A man whose spiritual leadership was born out of his intimate walk with Jesus.  Boyd will take you on a journey of discovery and growth as a spiritual leader in a personal, approachable, vulnerable, loving, humble, and yet penetrating way, all the while being guided by God’s Word. You will come away knowing the very heart of the author and his Author.”
