Watch to see where God is working, and join Him. Consider these two Scriptures:

  • “There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God” (Romans 3:10-11).
  • “No one can come to me [Jesus] unless the Father who sent me draws him” (John 6:44).

According to these two passages, people don’t seek God on their own initiative. They won’t ask abut spiritual matters unless God is working in their lives. When you encounter someone who is seeking God or asking about spiritual issues, you are seeing God at work.

If the Christian life is radically God-centered, then it is important that we constantly look to God, listen to God, and watch to see what His directives are going to be.

Our tendency is to start our story with ourselves but the Bible starts with God.

When we turn our eyes to ourselves, we see all the reasons why we can’t. But when we start with God, we open ourselves up to His power. It’s no longer a question of what we can do but what He can do.
