
The second petition, “Your Kingdom come,” builds on the first by showing us how God’s name is hallowed in the world.
Naturally, we want what we want. We go to God, just as if we’ve found a genie in the bottle. What are our three wishes? How do we make those requests of God?
Here, Jesus teaches us a different way. As Pete Greig teaches, “Prayer isn’t about trying to get God to say amen to what I want; prayer is about me saying amen to God’s will for my life.”
